| Premier Williams Attends Summit of the Americas |
Premier the Honorable Galmo Williams attended the inaugural session of the Fifth Summit of the Americas in Port of Spain, Trinidad. As the newly elected Premier of the Turks and Caicos Islands, Premier Williams said that “ one of my Government’s priority is to foster a closer relationship with regional Heads of Government (and Community Institutions) to work in unison on issues that commonly affect us all. The inaugural session began with a flag ceremony and procession of all thirty four Heads of State and Government. Followed by inaugural session statements made by H.E. Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner, President of Argentina, H.E. Daniel Ortega Saavedra, President if Nicaragua, Honorable Dean Barrow Prime Minister of Belize, and Chairman of CARICOM, the President of the United States of America Barack Obama and Prime Minister of Trinidad & Tobago and the Chairman of the Fifth Summit of the Americas Patrick Manning. The Fifth Summit of the Americas is being held under the theme ‘Securing Our Citizens’ Future by Promoting Human Prosperity, Energy Security and Environmental Sustainability’. Premier Williams said “ having regard to the theme I am currently in Port of Spain attending the Fifth Summit of the Americas and I look forward to contributing towards this Summit’s overall objective of developing feasible solutions to the challenges facing the Hemisphere and to deliver tangible and measurable outcomes for all our citizens.”
