| Census set for early 2012 |

The Turks and Caicos Islands government announced Aug. 17 that a census will be conducted beginning in the first quarter of 2012. The last census was conducted in 2001. Funding and logistics for the census are in place to coordinate with regional studies, and the official launch will take place next month. In order to educate the public about the upcoming census, government will be holding logo, slogan and jingle competitions. The logo competition has already taken place in secondary schools, and the winners will be announced shortly. Residents of the Turks and Caicos Islands — regardless of nationality — are invited to take part in the slogan and jingle competitions.
The jingle should be a short song depicting any aspect of the census to be used throughout the Census Promotional Campaign. The jingle should not be more than 45 seconds in length and must not have been previously entered into a competition, published, self-published or published on a website or broadcast prior to entry.
