National Trust announces Wetlands Day winners PDF Print E-mail

The Turks and Caicos National Trust recently announced the winners of the World Wetlands Day Art and Poetry Competition based on the theme “Caring for Wetlands: An Answer to Climate Change:”

Art Contest

1st Place: SamKelly Pierre (Enid Capron Primary School)
2nd Place: Mario Jones (Enid Capron Primary School)
3rd Place:Akia Guerrier (Enid Capron Primary School)
Honourable Mention: Arneah Moises (Precious Treasures School)

Poetry Contest

1st place: Renard Brown (Richmond Hill Preparatory School)
2nd place: Jonbonae Chung (Precious Treasures School)
3rd place: Trevor Cooke (Precious Treasures School)
Honourable Mention: Jackson Pierre (New Age Academy and Language Centre)

All winners received a free one-year Junior Membership with the National Trust, T-shirts, books, Iguana and TCI pins, TCNT water bottles, crayons and other art materials, and a certificate for the winning school.

TCI Protected Areas Series

The fp is publishing a series of articles on the Turks and Caicos Islands Protected Area System to increase public awareness and respect for the beauty and value of this "beautiful by nature" country.

The authors, marine ecologist Marsha Pardee and terrestrial ecologist Kathleen Wood, are long-time TCI residents and respected scientists in their fields.
