Police are seeking the public’s help in finding two men involved in a robbery July 18 at Pirates Cove that left a 30-year-old Turkish man dead.

“We have interviewed a number of witnesses, but we are aware that the crime may have been seen by others,” Assistant Commissioner of Police Rodney Adams said. “We appeal to anyone else with information concerning this serious incident to come forward and contact the police at 941-4448 or 941 4451.”

Police said Murat Kilicer was with several other people at Pirates Cove when he was shot and killed by one of two masked men with firearms.

Pirates Cove is a remote beach at West Harbour on the southwest tip of Providenciales in the Pigeon’s Pond and Frenchman’s Creek Nature Reserve.

“This was a particularly vicious attack, and the major incident team are aggressively pursuing a number of lines of enquiry,” Adams said.

Police said they have interviewed a number of witnesses and recovered one spent 9mm shell casing and a mask.

One of the men was 5’7”-5’8” with a slim to medium build and was wearing black clothing and mask, according to a Crime Stoppers, which is offering a $5,000 reward for any information about the crimes.

Call Crime Stoppers at 800-TIPS (8477) or use their Web site www.crimestoppers.tc.

“This crime has an impact on this country’s reputation and as such could damage our tourist industry and a number of our small businesses,” Commissioner of Police Edward Hall said.

“My officers will do all they can to bring those involved in this crime to justice, and I appeal to all members of the community with any information that can help our investigation to step forward,” he said.

“The police and the community must work closely together,” Hall said.

Kilicer's death is the first homicide in the country in 2010.
