The Royal Bank of Canada branch in the Centre Mews on Leeward Highway on Providenciales was robbed Saturday, July 24, police said.
An undisclosed amount of cash was stolen from several security guards.
According to police, shots were fired, but no one was injured.
The robbery is under investigation.
All suspects in Jai’s jewelry robbery released on bail
All six suspects in the July 10 robbery of Jai’s jewelry store on Grace Bay are free on bail, police said.
Roxanne Lockhart, Jo’ram Rigby, Lorenzo Caesar, Franklyn Saintelmon and Dorlens Zamor are free on bail with a surety and conditions to return to the court on Aug. 13.
A sixth suspect, Wilkie Arthur, was also released on bail July 26.
Recent drug arrests
Several people were arrested recently on drug charges in Providenciales and Grand Turk.
On Monday, July 26, Travis Simmons, 28, a Turks and Caicos Islander, was arrested and charged by Grand Turk police with possession of cannabis and possession of cannabis with intent to supply.
He appeared in the Providenciales Magistrate’s Court 2, where he plead guilty. The matter was dismissed under Probation of Offenders Ordinance, but he did pay a fine of $500 for prosecution costs.
Isabella Beaudour Jennings, 26, of Martinique and residing on Grand Turk, was also arrested and charged by Grand Turk police for possession of cannabis and possession of cannabis with intent to supply on July 26.
She appeared in the Providenciales Magistrate’s Court 2, where she plead guilty. Jennings entered a bond to be of good behavior and to keep the peace for six months, and she paid a fine of $500.
Danny Been, who was wanted by police on Providenciales, was arrested July 22 without incident. He was wanted in connection with a shooting incident in the Bight in Providenciales on June 29.
During his arrest, he had a quantity of suspected cannabis in his possession and was charged for possession of cannabis.
On July 23, police in Providenciales charged Dominican national Jose Luis Gomez, 36, with possession of cannabis, possession of cocaine and possession of cocaine with intent to supply. He was released on bail with a surety to appear in the Providenciales Magistrate‘s Court 2.
