| Sandals Foundation renovates Clement Howell High |

 A group of highly enthusiastic and motivated team members of Beaches Resorts Villages and Spa, and its charitable arm, the Sandals Foundation, recently hosted a renovation project at Clement Howell, the largest public high school in the country. The resort and its charitable arm announced the adoption of the Blue Hills-based high school last month and has kept its promise to facilitate and assist the school in preparation for the 2010 school year. The project was accomplish over three days by a team of volunteers made up of Beaches team members, parents and students of the school. They renovated several classrooms, painted the entire D block, installed doors, locks and light switches, as well planting more than 200 trees around the school grounds. “Normally the repairs and renovations of the school is done by the government EMS Department,” said Principal Lloyd Fearon. “Unfortunately due to the economic challenges, the government was unable to assist with any repairs for the 2010-11 school year.” “We are really delighted that the Sandals Foundation was able to assist us with this much needed renovation exercise,” Fearon said. Heidi Clarke, director of the Sandals Foundation, said she was pleased to add Clement Howell to its group of adopted schools. “The Sandals Foundation puts education of our region’s youth as one of our top priorities,” Clarke said. “We look forward to working with the parents, staff and students at Clement High in our mission to be part of positive change.” This is the second government school in Providenciales that the Sandals Foundation has taken under its wings since March 2009. The charitable organization inducted the underprivileged secondary institution into their Caribbean-wide school adoption program with plans for upgrading their facility while engaging, encouraging, and empowering its students. The foundation drafted a 12-month curriculum aimed at enhancing the school. In addition to renovating the D Block, also known as the Samuel Forbes Buildings, the foundation will also establish a sick bay, install water pumps at the school and also provide CPR training for teachers. Other benefits will include the beginning of the highly anticipated library building project and also the implementation of high school breakfast feeding program for underprivileged students. Across the Caribbean the Sandals Foundation has adopted a total of 27 schools with Clement Howell High as its latest addition. The foundation works closely to provide support and assistance to schools while working with parents, teachers and pupils of the community.
