![]() It was a hot early Sunday morning, but that did not stop more than 80 individuals from hitting the streets of Grace Bay to participate in the 2nd Annual 5k/10k Chrysalis Fun Run. “We were thrilled with the outcome and that the weather held out for us,” organiser Leslie Foss told the fp. Although cloud cover threatened the race, the rain held off until the last runners crossed the finish line. Participants from all areas of the community from the youngest to the oldest came out Sunday to enjoy fun in the sun and support a local charity. Individuals as well as teams from companies and sponsors such as Grace Bay Rentals joined in the fun. Participants chose between running or walking the route through Grace Bay, starting and ending at the Scotiabank Grace Bay Branch. Everyone was treated to flapjacks, thanks to volunteers alongside the Chef of the Windsong and donations from Graceway Gourmet. They also received a goody bag, compliments in part to sponsor Flamingo Pharmacy, which organized donations from Ocean Potion Suncare who gave product samples to all participants and spectators. The first to pass was Club Med team member Jason Hurt, taking the win in the men’s 5k. Nicola Jordan was not far behind taking the win in the women’s 5k with a time of 22.42. Dan Redmond passed the red finish line in the 10k race at just 39.44 minutes, just over 10 minutes ahead of the women’s winner Geraldine Burlschi. “It was lots of fun,” said Burlischi, who crossed the line beaming with a smile from ear to ear, a sentiment shared by all who came out to support this fun Sunday morning event. All proceeds were donated to the Salvation Army, whose members were also on hand to cheer on the runners and pass out the pancakes. Women’s 5K Men’s 10K
