In the early morning hours today (Nov. 11), police seized what they believe is seven kilograms of cocaine in the home of a Turks and Caicos Islander, as well as a large quantity of undersized lobsters, which are illegal to possess.

Detective Sgt. Calvin Chase said officers were operating under Operation Alpha 2 in Providenciales when they executed a search warrant for suspected illegal drugs at the residence.

One person was arrested and is in custody and assisting the police with their investigations, Chase said.

Police did not identify the location of the seizure or the name of the person arrested.

Police pointed out that the stepped up police presence and special tactics of Operation Alpha 2 appear to have reduced violent crimes, with the last one reported Oct. 27.

The public has been getting behind the police in starting to give information upon which they are actively working, police said.
