Two young Turks and Caicos Islanders made their country proud last weekend when they competed and won medals in the Inter-Secondary Schools Sports Association (ISSA)/Grace Kennedy Boys and Girls’ Athletics Championships at the National Stadium in Jamaica. Seventeen-year-old TCI native Delano Williams took home a third place medal in the Class One 100 metres final completing the sprint in just 10.51 seconds on Friday, April 1. But he stepped us his game to blow the socks off the competition winning the gold medal in the 200 metres final on Sunday. Delano joined fellow countryman Ifeanyi Otuonye to take home a gold medal in a 4 x 100 metre race, with one of the best times in Jamaican history. Delano also received a gold medal in the 4 x 400 metre race with fellow teammates from Munro College. Ifeanyi Otuonye also made history jumping 7.15m, breaking a Turks and Caicos record in long jump, previous held by Levard Missick of 7.10m. “Munro is a tremendous school,” Delano told a reporter from SportsMax. “I just love to see how the crowd is cheering on an international athlete like me. I am from the Turks and Caicos Islands and being at Munro College really taught me a lot.”
