The governor’s Advisory Council says the government should work with the Sports Commission to provide CARIFTA gold medal winners Delano Williams and Domanique Missick with financial support to help them to pursue their athletic careers.

The decision came at the council’s meeting April 27 on Grand Turk.

North Caicos native Domanique Missick won a gold medal in the Boys High Jump. Delano Williams won the gold in the Boys 200 Meter Dash under 20.

The Turks and Caicos Islands came in sixth place overall among 26 competing countries at the National Stadium in Jamaica.

Waiver allowed for 48-hour visitor marriage delays

Visitors to the TCI wishing to get married here may now receive a waiver from the 48-hour residency requirement, the Advisory Council has decided.

All other marriage requirements must be met for the waiver to be allowed.

The amendment will accommodate cruise ship passengers to Grand Turk who arrive and depart on the same day.

Philatelic Bureau to expand TCI stamps, collectibles

The Advisory Council has expressed its support of plans by the Philatelic Bureau to enter into a contract with a major international stamp supplier for the production and marketing of TCI stamps, coins and other collectibles which should increase the Bureau’s revenue earning capacity.

The council also welcomed the themes selected for pending stamp releases.
