Dozens of young students were given an opporunity to get inspired this week when 33 private companies and public sector departments visited their school for Career Day.

The successful career day event was organised by the Office of Public Service Management, who were looking to prepare the nation’s students for the world of work at the H.J. Robinson High School on Grand Turk, under the theme “CAREER! GET EXCITED, EXPLORE YOUR FUTURE!”

The Career Day event provided students with an overview of the career opportunities in the TCI Government Public Service, as well as statutory bodies and private sector organizations, to help guide them in deciding their area of study for the final two years of secondary education, and the commencement of tertiary education.

“I am delighted that this year’s Career Day Event was a success and presented an opportunity for the Office of the Public Service Management to promote and bring awareness to career opportunities within the Public Service; and more importantly to help attract attention to those areas within Government that our young people may not be familiar with,” said Ms. Keisha B. Taylor, Human Resource Officer, OPSM.

Students had the opportunity to visit booth exhibits which highlighted and promoted career opportunities throughout the government service and the participating statutory bodies and private sector organizations.

Guest Speaker at the event Jamell Robinson, director of Disaster Management and former student of the institution, informed students, “That a job is not your career. A job is just that- a job. Your career is the journey you take in the profession you choose to pursue. Maximize your God given talents in whatever field your passion lies and be excited about your contribution to the building of the TCI.”
