TCSPCA Annual Dog Show most successful to date PDF Print E-mail

More than 60 dogs and their owners and hundreds of spectators enjoyed an afternoon of furry fun at one of the most successful annual fundraisers for the Turks and Caicos Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.

“Over $20,000 was raised thanks to the support of local businesses and people supporting the TCSPCA by becoming a member and purchasing retail items such as T-shirts and tote bags,” said TCSPCA Director Susan Blehr.

The raffle alone raised more than $2,000, thanks to Parrot Cay, The Regent Palms, the Somerset, Amanyara and many other local businesses that donated prizes.

As usual, the show took place under a tent in Turtle Cove Marina, but it began later in the day this year to avoid the midday heat. Show registration started at 3 p.m. while the Enid Capron Elementary School steel drum band entertained the growing crowd.

Pampered Paws Obedience team showed off their skills in command and handling drills by following directions from Donna Doran, a professional dog trainer with more than 30 years of experience.

Then dogs from the tiny to the huge competed in various categories before the judges and the crowd. Best in Show went to Peaches, owned by Andrea Piche.

Blehr said the event is only possible with the help of volunteers and sponsors. Lead sponsor was PPC Ltd., and main sponsors were Graceway IGA for dog food prizes and Pedigree for doggie goodie bags.
