Sandals Resorts International has launched the first corporate university in the Caribbean to offer higher education to the employees of its Sandals and Beaches resorts. Beaches Turks and Caicos General Manager Donald Dagenais told a large gathering March 21 at the resort on Providenciales that the Sandals Corporate University will offer both career and individual development for its thousands of employees and enhance promotion from within. “We envision ourselves as the premier organization for creating a dynamic learning culture that develops and empowers future hospitality professionals, by relentlessly challenging our learners to be ‘Change-Included,’ through positively reinventing themselves, their resorts, communities, industry and world,” the new university’s vision statement says. The university will offer accredited higher education at the associate, bachelor and masters levels that will advance current employees and help with recruiting new employees, said Human Resources Manager Monique McClean-Vaughn. “They won’t have to choose between career and education,” she said. Training and Development Manager Melissa Hoilett said the university will offer lessons in resort classrooms, on the job and on the Internet so that everyone can take advantage of higher education. “At Sandals Corporate University, we believe in unleashing the unlimited potential innate in all learners, to drive departmental and organizational efficiency, innovation, profitability and customer service excellence, by developing their minds and dreams, through our commitment to innovative learning solutions, developed and delivered by passionate, committed and creative world class educators and experienced industry professionals,” the university’s mission statement says.
