![]() The Wine Cellar’s 2nd Annual Fish and Golf Tournament made for an action packed weekend, with all the fun happening for a good cause. The tournament began on Friday, March 30, when 19 vessels set off to see who would come back with the biggest catch. Dozens of spectators were impressed as Chuckie II, captained by Chad Stubbs, brought in a whopping 33.5-pound wahoo. The boats were back out Saturday when during day two of the competition another scale tipper was hooked by team In$Tuition, captained by Peirre Magnier, who won $1,000 for reeling in a 47.7-pound tuna. The tuna brought in almost $800 for charity, purchased by Opus Restaurant during the auction following the fishing tournament. But it was team Magic IV, captained by Dieter J. Decker, who had the honour of hoisting the glass trophy for catching the most fish at 228.6 pounds total over two days. They also won $5,000 sponsored by Islandcom Wireless. Sunday’s action kicked off with a bang when 100 players hit the greens of the Provo Golf Course for a shotgun start of the day’s tournament. “This weekend is about having fun,” Galmo Williams, proprietor of the Wine Cellar who put on the tournament, told participants at the awards ceremony following the day’s festivities. Williams said he was happy with the outcome of the 2nd annual event, “It is about all of us coming together and giving back to the community.” Proceeds from the fish auction, as well as silent auction prizes, are being donated to the Youth Rugby League and the Edward Gartland Youth Centre on Providenciales.
