Two Turks and Caicos Islands police inspectors recently completed an intensive three-week middle management course in Barbados with other regional police officers.

Inspectors Dwight Gardiner and Calvin Chase travelled to the Regional Police Training Centre in Barbados where they joined forces with colleagues from the host country, Antigua and Barbuda, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, and St. Lucia.

Topics covered included public speaking, leadership, stress management, human rights, customer service, crisis management, drug trends, productivity in law enforcement, information technology and media training.

“This was both an intensive and detailed course covering many topics which are key to policing here in the Caribbean,” Chase said.

“The event also gave us the opportunity to exchange information and ideas with colleagues from across the region, and excellent and valuable relationships between have now been established.

“Both Inspector Gardiner and I found the experience challenging and rewarding, and we look forward to passing what we have learned on to our colleagues here in the Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police Force.”

Both inspectors were presented with certificates at the conclusion of the course by Royal Barbados Police Assistant Commissioner Oral Williams.

“Our congratulations go to Inspector Gardiner and Inspector Chase for attending and completing what is a very intense and thorough training course,” said TCI Police Commissioner Colin Farquhar.

“The RTCI police has an ongoing policy to provide officers with the very best training possible and their enhanced skills will prove of great benefit to the community we serve.”
