Cholera Clinical Management Training Held in the TCI PDF Print E-mail

Healthcare professionals from the TCI Health Services were trained in the Clinical Management of Cholera and other diarrheal diseases in four one-day sessions held recently by the Ministry of Health and Human Services. The sessions were a part of an ongoing Cholera and Diarrheal Disease Risk Reduction Initiative supported with funding from the United Kingdom Department for International Development (DFID).

Illegal Haitian Immigrants Intercepted, to the Repatriated According to the Ministry of Border Control and Labour, on or about 5:00 a.m. on the morning of March 19, a boat carrying 115 Haitians was detected by the TCI Coastal Radar Station. It was subsequently intercepted by the Royal Turks and Caicos Islands (RTCI) Police Marine Branch, south of Providenciales. The passengers- comprising 86 males, 29 females and two minors were attempting to enter the Turks and Caicos Islands illegally and without regard for immigration laws or regulations.

Health surveillance teams attached to the Ministry of Health and Human Services (MOHHS) have reported an increase in the number of cases of diarrhea and or vomiting cases over the weekend in Grand Turk, a March 12 release from the department reported.
