The Brazil Travel Agency Association (ABAV) hosted their 40th annual travel trade show, Fair of Americas, in Rio de Janiero this past October and executives from the TC Hotel and Tourism Association and the TCI Tourist Board were present to shine a light on what our islands can offer Brazilian travelers. |

Digicel starts a tablet revolution in TCI schools |

Digicel has begun instituting its plan to bring tablets into schools across the country in an effort to bring the learning process both inside and outside of the classroom to new technological heights and with it improve the transfer of knowledge between teachers and students. |

Almost 200 people turned out to support the Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (TCSPCA) last Wed night, Nov. 28th, at their third annual Beach-Bonf ire-Barbeque, oceanfront at Bay Bistro Restaurant. The popular fundraising event netted more than $12,000.00 which translates into continuing help for all the animals of the Turks & Caicos Islands. |

For the past month, the TCI rugby team the Flamingos has been putting in the hard yards in preparation for the country’s first ever official test match, which will be played against Jamaica on Jan. 19. We’re conscious of the fact that, while that’s still a good month and a half away, that date is going to creep up on us very quickly, especially with the Christmas period closing in fast. The feeling amongst the guys is one of genuine excitement and a bit of uncertainty as well, as we are venturing into the unknown somewhat. |

Father-daughter victory in National Sailing Championship |

The champion titles from the first National Pico Championship went to Adam Twigg for the adult class and his daughter Phoebe Twigg for the junior class after an exciting weekend of strong winds and testy waters. The sailing championship, sponsored by the Turks and Caicos Sailing Association, was hosted at the children’s park by the Provo Sailing Club during the first weekend of December.It saw two classes of competition, adults and juniors, which each brought in numerous competitors. Adam Twigg dominated the adult class with consistent victories through the eight race series, while his daughter, Phoebe, took home the title for the junior class. |
